Hello good People!

I was wondering. If you are scheduled on a flight. Can your partner fly with you on stand by and stay with you at the hotel?

Any special arrangements for this?

You are eligible to nominate 2 people for staff travel benefits after 6 months service, so your partner could travel with you on standby after 6 months. They can usually stay in the hotel with you, some hotels have to be notified first.

Something to remember however is that if they are a travel companion then they will have a low onload priority. If the partner is an official partner ie wife husband civil partner then their onload will be higher than that of a mate you have on your concessions or a relative. Don't forget staff onload is done in seniority order and for certain flights you can have 30 people or more standing bye. Even with 24 years seniority and a CSD I still ensure the flight has lots of seats before I take anyone with me as it is too risky if they get left behind so a little homework should always be done before you decide to take anyone is the best advice

Baby Jack, please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought all nominees including Travel Companions have had the same onload priority since the introduction of ST09. ie 54A/M48 for basic standby if accompanied and 54B/M52 if unaccompanied, followed by DOJ.

Yes and No that only applies if you personally as an employee are flying on the same booking reference. Instead of a 54A they would have a 54B onload priority if on their own. All 54A's would be on loaded before 54B's irrespective of date of joining. Saying that a Captain can over rule all of that and assign jump seats, pilot rest seats to who he or she wishes

So, if you took an official partner or friend on a trip with you, would you not book them as a 54B? Setting aside what the Captain can assign, if several crew members had people travelling with them, would they be onloaded based on your date of joining?

You don't have a choice as the computer does that automatically. If they are an official partner or friend unless you are also on the booking as an employee and travelling with them then they will be 54B. They only get the 54A when you are travelling with them on the same booking
On load is done according to type of tickets so everyone on their 20 year firm for example would come firstbfollowed by those on 5 year confirmed etc and then all 54A sby and then 54B sby and then those from one world and those then from other airlines

Thanks Baby Jack, I was aware the system would automatically book them at a 54B as not on same booking as a staff member, perhaps I didn't word it correctly.
What I was trying to get at was your original point was that an official partner would have a higher onload priority than a friend/travel companion. I don't understand how this is the case when the onload is done by ticket type (firm/standby) and onload priority which is same for partners and travel companions.

Hi I was just wondering
How does the stanby ticket price work is it 10%on the whole price inc tax fuel etc or pay 10% on the fare only and have still to pay the full tax.
I also heard staff can have 75% off on confirmed ticket.does it work for all the classes of service?

Standby is 10% of the full fare plus tax - still a really good deal. Hotlines.....you can still get cheaper tickets through the usual sources such as flight centre, BA.com ect, but you get some really good deals on euro flights on hotline - usually anly a few pounds more than standby and confirmed.
