I travelled to Perth, Western Australia for an open day. It was 17 hours of flight for me,. I have my reasons in choosing this location first being is that it is during my school holidays and it is an English speaking country.

I stayed in the hotel where the interview will be held for five nights. Open day came and all the other candidates were there. Safe to say it wasn't like how I expected it. I expected all, if not majority, model looking girls. But that was not the case. There were lots of men there and some older ladies. Of course, younger and pretty girls were also present but not as many as I expected. The people were all from different parts of the world that the first thing people ask is "from which country are you from", very different from the homogeneous society I live in now. I thought, I belonged there. Because I'm a mixture of many different cultures.

The schedule is 8 am but it's almost 9 and we didn't see no recruiter. Until someone went to the stage and the room became drop dead silent. He started with, I am not a recruiter. He told us that the recruiter was having some problems and she couldn't make it. They will just collect out CV and call us. So we all submitted out CVs.

That day passed and I didn't receive any call. I made sure to turn on my roaming settings. And someone told me that someone got called. I was rejected, I thought. Being rejected itself is hard but my case was harder. I travelled all the way across continents. And I got rejected without even having the chance to be seen.

The following day, I went to see. There really was an assessment. And I saw someone. That was the worst feeling. So I just went to my buffet breakfast and ate my heart out. Until the person who told me about someone being contacted texted and said that he didn't get a call but going anyway and the assessment won't start until 2 hours later so I have time to prepare. He is going without a call, so I thought, ok why not go and make a fool of yourself out there, after all, you were already a fool traveling all the way here without any assurance.

When I arrived there and I saw everyone, II was even more hurt. How could they get the call and not me. But oh well, I just want the recruiter to see me. So I went there. She explained that half of the people who submitted their CV are to be interviewed next week. They just divided the candidates coz the other recruiter can't make it. I told her I haven't gotten the call but came anyway, and she accepted me. And I went on with the assessment like normal. I made it till the last stage but sadly failed the final discussion. I have no regrets. I'm so proud of myself for taking that chance to look like a fool it paid of. I learned so much. I made it to the top 10 and its a good start considering it's my first time.

With that being said, going to another country for an open day is a big chance and you must be ready for any outcome. Only come if you have the luxury of time and money. Do not go if you are just forcing it. It's like casino or cryptocurrency, only bet the ones you're willing to completely lose.

At the end of the day, I had the best trip in Perth. I visited Rottnest Island, Fremantle. And even travelled Sydney. I fell involve with Australia. What an awesome country.
