I like to be constructive. You might want to point your sources towards the JPMs, specifically the Cabin Crew experience requirements.
RIP BASSA & CC89. A tawdry sell out to end it all.

Originally posted by MandyConn I can confirm it is true about some CSM's having not flown as crew before. Yes, this is true, unless my line manager is not telling us the truth as he said that he had never flown as crew. Also I flew a couple weeks ago with another csm, who worked for an airline before but not as crew. Even some of the trainers have never worked as crew before, which I find very odd.

Your 'line manager'?  It is correct that some of the Crew Team Managers have not flown before but they are employed as Team Managers.  They are not employed to operate as a senior crew member.  All Crew Team Managers are required to fly in order that they may assess members of their team but they do so, usually, on a supernumerary basis - never as the in-charge crew member.

If you are saying that your own CSM manager has not flown before, I am afraid I find that very hard to believe.  Looking, specifically, at current CSM's who have, so far, been allocated main crew I think you will find that they have all flown before.

Some of the SEP trainers at Cranebank have never flown before and neither is there a requirement for them to have done so.  There is, however, a requirement that Senior Cabin Crew Members have at least a year's flying experience and have completed an approved promotion course.  It is, for that reason, that assessment selectors reject any CSM applications that do not meet those requirements.

I am so looking forward to being "outstanding." :-) I was successful in my assessment day and I can't wait to join the world of British Airways and do my little bit to help push the customer experience of the airline forward to what it wants to be. Wooo hooo :-) Thus far, my experience has been nothing but positive and quite clearly from the calibre of assessment staff that were present with me on the day, and the quality of my fellow candidates, it is clear that this airline is swiftly changing product, service and staff development in a very positive, powerful way and will indeed, if it continues to recruit the right people into mixed fleet, once again become the "worlds favourite airline" and I can't bloody wait :-)

Mixed Fleet = Mixed flying and that is a mixture of longhaul 3 day 4 day trip along with there and back shorthaul and 2 / 3 / 4 day shorthaul tours along with airport CRC standbye and home standbye.

Salary = competitive = Average Market rate plus 10% for LHR bsed cabin crew.
Crew are crew the worldover and that is why we are crew

Line managers used to be called Crew Managers, they are now called IBMs ( inflight business managers) they do not have to have had flying experience and prior to M/F and the strike they did not fly.

Since the introduction of Volunteer crew, now Line managers have to train as crew. If they fly on an aircraft that they are checked out on, they will be in uniform but a supernumery crew member, checking out crew and the CSMs. If on an aircraft they are not checked out on they will be a passenger but still check out the crew and the CSM.

It is not possible for someone to be a CSM without at least two years flying experience. It is a CAA requirement.

So line managers do fly but NOT in charge. The only ones that fly and are INCHARGE are CSMs and they have to have had flying experience of at least 2 years.

Well they must have had experience in a previous airline then or lied.

They don't have to have been in charge crew for two years just have previously flown for two years to legally be INCHARGE direct entry crew. BA did however ask for managing experience though as well.

All the in charge volunteer crew during the strike had to have had two years flying experience. It is a legal requirement in the UK for direct entry SCCMs.
