Hi there,
I received a job offer from BA for Mixed Fleet at the end of March. I rang up today and they told me I'm in a holding pool. I understand nobody has the answers on when training will recommence but I was wondering if anybody had any info on it?
Should I be worried by the fact that I'm in a holding pool? Does that mean my job offer is on the line? Or does it literally mean I'll just have to wait a bit longer until I start. Has anybody been in a holding pool before and now has been offered a start date?
Also does anyone have any idea when this will be? Or at least when the line managers would have decided and announce the new training dates?
Any info would be much appreciated!! Feeling a bit worried and at a loose end. |

Hi,
No your job is still okay!  Just means that you are waiting on the next training day avail..
With the olympic's and that it just means you might have to wait for a a little longer..
If you look on the London Gatwick thread, they are all in holding pool's However some have been given a date.
Best thing to do is just carry on working and checking you emails for the next start date!

hi, i am the exact same position as you. I was heart broken on thursday. In fairness to ba they did say at my ad back in march that training will slow down and cease in aug when the olympics were on. But I just wanted a start date so I had something to look forward to. Hopefully there will be a job at the end of all this and it wont be too long away. I was scared that with the bmi crew being intergrated that they were taking our places but I dont think this is the case? When I spoke to ba they did say we will be the first to hear when courses are set.  |

| They didn't actually contact me I rang them as I'd heard rumours. Thank you Matt, aslong as my job's still safe then I don't mind as much. Just hope the courses resume in the autumn rather than the spring! Anyone have any idea when they'll let us know? |

It says in the email we should hear from them between june/july. just want to start now.  |

| Oh right... That's not too bad I suppose, just knowing when things will happen makes me feel better. If you dont mind me asking when was your AD? Just so I know when I'll get an email.. |

Hi same position here too !
I was on March 28th AD ...heard the 30th I was sucessful then I got the email friday to say I was in a holding pool ....I was gutted to be honest was really hoping to get a start date for september to look forward to. But who knows perhaps we still will 
The email says they will be in contact June / July to update us on the availability of courses. This seems quite hopeful....I'm not sure what the people in gatwick hold pool were told but you would think that if they weren't planning any courses they would just keep us in a hold pool for 12 months and just be in contact SHOULD training recommence . I don't know if I'm just clutching at straws but I really am hoping courses will restart in Autumn.
I too am worried that if 600 BMI crew are integrated onto mixed fleet they won't need us . I have seen different things on this site :
1.bmi crew will be integrated into euro fleet.
2.bmi crew will be integrated into mixed fleet.
3. bmi crew will have the choice between euro fleet and mixed fleet.
So who knows I suppose we will just have to wait and see when an announcement is made.
I am sure we will all know more when we hear from BA themselves in June or July for now it feels ages away but I'm sure it will go quick.
I am an ex flyer and have been training to be a nurse for the past 3 years I have been dreaming of getting back to the sky's for probably around 2 and a half years but qualify August and was hoping to get straight back in to it ...which probably was a little optimistic. For now I am just going to TRY and concentrate on finishing my training and look forward to the next contact from BA.
I am very grateful to anyone on here who can shed any light on the situation....any information is welcomed .

I have a friend who got an offer for gatwick but they told her they'd overstaffed and if they didn't offer her a position in 12 months then she'd have to re-apply.
I really don't think that's the case here. She was told straight away about the 12 month thing whereas tbf they've just told us there's not enough course spaces and they will recommence.
My mum is worldwide crew and she said not to worry, that they're going to need more staff eventually, they just obvs can't get us all on the training course.
It is just frustrating not knowing, but I suppose they don't know themselves so there's not much we can do at this stage. |
