Hi,

I've got a question for those of you who have applied for the CSM role.

I am interested to get back into the airlines after a long 16 year break. Last flew in 1998 as Senior Crew and since then I have been working in an IT management role, managing teams of up to 30 staff. Just feel its time to get away from the 9 till 5 daily grind and do something different with my life!

Before I begin the application process, do you think my flying experience is not recent enough to apply for the role? It would be useful to know if they place more weight on the previous flying or the people management experience.

Any feedback, advice, will be gratefully received. Please feel free to PM me.

Thanks.

Azzuri.

They place more weight on your people management skills.

Hi all, I'm starting 6th March also. Can't wait, really looking forward to it. I'll be looking for a place to live too so if anyone's in a similar situation or got a room on offer feel free to get in touch. Happy to consider something short term also just for training and then sort something out for the long term afterward.
See ya soon,
Simon

I think there is a fairly high turnover of CSMs, some leaving but also some moving to other areas of BA.
Many of the FTCSMs are not ready for promotion to CSM.
Many crew with the required qualities and experience on other fleets are not interested in taking effectively lower pay or less favourable working agreements, that they would have to sign up for to get CSM.

As Mixed Fleet is a constantly expanding fleet, as BA is increasing routes and other fleets have people retiring all the time, the need for external CSMs as well as new main crew entrants will from time to time need to happen.

Any ideas as to why the high turnover Little minx?
