The statement below comes from the CAA regarding EASA medical certification I would advise that you visit your GP and ask if there is another medication available for you that will not restrict or ground you from flying. The blood pressure medication would be fine.

"The half-life of" amitriptyline" is 18 to 24 hours and active metabolites have a longer half-life.  Sedation occurs at all dose levels. It is not compatible with EASA medical certification even at the low doses used for treating neuropathic pain"

Hi! I have a question about the medical test. When I was 13 I was in the hospital for a mild anorexia, it wasn't extreme. This happened years ago and now I'm really fine, healthy. My question: it will be an inconvenience for pass the medical test and for work?

Thanks in advance!!

British airlines don't take bmi literally. It's a medical assessment to ensure you can do the job. Bmi doesn't really cause a hindrance as people vary in size and shape. If you fit your jumpseat harness on assessment day then you are deemed fit otherwise you wouldn't have got through the day if you didn't fit the harness.

The medical is to make sure you are fit and healthy and if you have certain medical conditions that unable you to qualify as cabin crew this will be highlighted and options given. Unfortunately there are some cases where uncontrolled medical conditions do lead to withdrawal of offers. It happens all the time and it's not to be taken personally as the job just is too demanding and for those who have flown before will appreciate.

I fly with colleagues who have and had medical conditions and they passed their medical examinations don't feel deflated before you see the BA medical team. Their not there to get rid of you but to make sure you are not risking your health further by flying and also as a business won't lose you due to time off sick related to your previous medical history.
I hope this helps everyone who is worried about the medical. Please just relax you can't change the past but most airlines including British Airways are amazing in accommodating employees.

Hi,

I have my medical appointment booked for the beginning of June, can anyone tell me if BA accept applicants with mild asthma please? I haven't suffered an attack since I was a young child and it doesn't affect my day to day activities and I currently work as cabin crew for another airline and i rarely use my inhalers. Just wondering if BA have different standards etc and I've already requested a doctors letter explaining this.

Thank you x
