I have heard from a reliable source that the plan is to start charging passengers onboard, for drinks and snacks. Might I add this is on EF.

Well your reliable source is not very reliable.

Frank Van de Post gave a talk to 400 invited cabin crew, only a week or so ago and said that we would never charge at LHR. He said that infact he intended to enhance what we are going to offer in E/F and that it would never involve charging.

He did add that LGW was completely different because they are competing with Easyjet down there. So maybe your reliable source got the bases mixed up! I have to add though that I personaly have NOT heard anything about LGW's plans.

Well you are both completely wrong on this one. BA LGW will NOT be charging for drinks and snacks on shorthaul flights.

I never said they would.

I know that E/F will not be because Frank has recently said that that it will not be happening.

I was just trying to understand why Hilary might have been told this by her reliable source but I did clearly state that I had not heard this about LGW.

Obviously it was just complete fantasy from this so called reliable source that Hilary spoke to then!

I know someone who did a secondment before Christmas and the key point of their role was to evaluate charging onboard at both LGW and LHR.

All I'm saying is don't rule it out on ANY fleet.

And Little Minx, I met Mr Van der Post during my EE course a few weeks go, nice man, but at the end of the day, still wouldn't take anything he says as gospel.
BA have a habit of covering things up remember!

Remember when Honest Bill said that there would be no mixed fleet, just new crew on new contracts that would fly both long and short haul but with current crews, a la the worldwide temp contract, then a week later, MF was back on the table.

Until you see it confirmed in black and white, I believe nothing in this company.

Just like they WERE going to have brand new aircraft and exotic new routes at LGW?

Fear not Little Minxette - Hilary's 'sources' appear to be useless and offer her nothing but snippets of sh*te. Personally, I'd rather listen to the spider that's living in my airing cupboard...
